De maand mei behoort evenals augustus tot de topmaanden voor bruiloften. Gelukkig wordt op de uitnodiging vaak de gewenste dresscode vermeld en ook geeft de locatie uitsluitsel over wat je kunt dragen. Stylight heeft drie landen en hun gewoontes wat betreft bruiloftskleding onder de loep genomen:
1. De traditionele Duitse bruiloft
Procedure: op het traditionele huwelijksfeest is er in ieder geval een champagne receptie. Het ja-woord wordt vaak ‘s middags gegeven, de gasten worden ‘s avonds dan weer verwacht voor een degelijk diner en aansluitend is het tijd om te dansen.
Kleding voor de bruiloftsgasten: voor de ceremonie zijn een pastelkleurig kostuum voor de vrouw en een donker pak voor de man het beste geschikt. ‘s Avonds is een lange avondjurk of een cocktailjurk in turkoois, lichtrood of citroengeel een goede keuze. De man kan zich weer in een pak met feestelijke stropdas vertonen of alsnog de smoking voor de dag halen.
2. Een Italiaans feest kan altijd
Procedure: Italianen zijn erg gericht op goed eten. Van de receptie via het nagerecht tot aan de bruidstaart diep in de nacht – het hoort er allemaal bij! Vergezeld van veel Italiaanse wijn!
Kleding voor de bruiloftsgasten: voor vrouwen komt een pittige styling in aanmerking en in zo’n geval gaat er niets boven een combinatie van zwart en wit. Grote hoeden à la Sophia Loren en allerlei soorten strikjes voor de rok en blouses voor overdag. Mannen kunnen in een zwart pak – natuurlijk met Italiaanse snit – iedereen de loef afsteken.
3. Amerikaanse pracht en praal
Procedure: snel elkaar het ja-woord geven en dan op naar het buffet en de bar. Amerikanen hechten meer waarde aan mooie decoratie en overvloedig eten. Bruiloften vinden op zelf uitgekozen locaties plaats, van tuin tot afgehuurd zandstrand.
Kleding voor de bruiloftsgasten: vrouwen scoren met opvallende kokerrokken met tops in bonbon-kleuren. Braaf is niet de bedoeling, je kunt beter voor sexy gaan en je benen laten zien. Voor mannen zijn stoffen broeken met colberts de Amerikaanse droom.
Volledig in het wit is aan de bruid voorbehouden – en dat geldt overal! De gasten mogen zich met alle andere kleuren uitleven.
Enige uitzondering: een effen zwarte look. Anders wek je snel de indruk dat je dacht voor een begrafenis uitgenodigd te zijn!
Bruiloftsgasten mogen met hun kleding de show niet stelen van het bruidspaar.
